Job Description :
The incumbent would be responsible to:
- Review engineering drawings (post order) /data sheets (pre order) and looking at the manufacturability of the equipments w.r.t. available resources.
- Attend Design review meetings, to look at the manufacturability of drawings and suggest all new non-standard jigs & fixtures needed.
- Identify the requirement of new machines/resources and/or to upgrade the available resources (machines).
- for complex work that may need specialized human resource, he will also be required to assist/suggest to manufacturing managers the requirement of these human resources.
- Work hand in hand with corporate procurement and manufacturing to identify and locate new machines, after the requirement is approved by Business Head.
- Approve the new machine/ technically evaluate the machines, before the finalization of the order. Wherever needed, he will take support from manufacturing departments to evaluate the machines.
- Work out the justification and pay back period for all new machines and major resource up-gradation expenses, along with maintenance manager.
- Review the progress of order placement and timely receipt of new machines.
- Plan the manufacturing sequence of complex equipments. Wherever required, he will himself and/or with the help of Design dept., design jigs and fixtures required to make the equipments.
- Design fixtures to control welding distortions during fabrication along with the welding engineering department.
- Identify, along with Head- Mfg, areas for automation in manufacturing activities, wherever possible and needed. He will also work with other departments/vendors to design and implement the automation. He will be required to justify the need for automation, returns on investment etc.
- Carryout the work and motion study, to look at the inefficiencies in manufacturing operations. He will then be required to suggest improvements.
- Set production norms, wherever possible. He will also find out the industry benchmarks.
Educational Qualification : Degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Production.
Essential Experience : 12 to 15 Years in Production Engineering in Fabrication Industries dealing with Manufacturing of Heat Exchangers, Pressure Vessels, Columns, Reactors etc.
Preferred Experience : Relevant experience in Fabrication / Welding required as per International Codes like ASME, A D Merkblatter, and TEMA etc.
Special Skills Required :
- Knowledge of sequence of Manufacturing and processes, International codes & Procedures, Baan, ISO systems & procedures.
- Procurement Procedures, Time & Motion study exercise.
- Knowledge of Planning tools like Primavera, MS Projects, Planning & Project Management.
